SVAS 002: Nairobi/Kisumu/Saiwa Camps

Nairobi, Kisumu, Saiwa Camps
Day 01: Nairobi – Nakuru

Leave Nairobi, drive into the great Rift Valley onto lake Nakuru national park for game drive, famous for its millions flamingoes and other birds and animals. Famous for its black and white rhinos. Dinner and overnight at Nakuru.

Day 02: Nakuru – Kisumu

Depart Nakuru after breakfast to Kericho the land of tea. Take a walk through the plantation then drive via Lwanda Magere (Luo warrior) who was killed by Kipsigis warrior during their war died and turned into a stone some centuries back. Then continue to Kisumu for dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Kakamega – Saiwa Swamp National Park

After breakfast take a short walk through the forest, drive via Webuye to Kitale for lunch. Then proceed to Saiwa swamp national park for game walk in search of birds and animals such as Sitatunga antelope, monkeys etc. Drive back to Kitale or Mt. Elgon for dinner and overnight.

Day 05: Mt. Elgon National Park

Drive to the park gate then proceed for game walk / drive. Visit the caves Makingeny, Chepnyali, Ngwarisha and Kitum (the place for ceremonies) 200 m into the mountain. This unspoilt game reserve is the home of about 300 elephants, buffalos, leopard, giant forest hog, colobus monkeys etc.

Day 06: Mt. Elgon – Nairobi

Those who want to climb can be left to climb to Koitobos the highest peak on Kenyan side about 4,200 m. After breakfast, drive takes you past Eldoret for lunch onto Nairobi.
