Family Safari Kenya

Day 1: Nairobi

Our Kenyan representative will receive you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer you in a tourist safari van to Ole Sereni Hotel for overnight on bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Nairobi – Amboseli

After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park to start your family safari in Kenya. Lunch at Ol Tukai Lodge followed by afternoon game drives in the park in search of herds of elephants, giraffes, lions, and a variety of other animals and birds.

Day 3: Amboseli

Full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives to cover other areas of the park and in search of the wildlife you may have missed the previous day. If you wake up at dawn, you’ll be able to see the snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro.

Day 4: Amboseli – Nairobi – Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara via Nairobi. Lunch at Jacaranda Hotel in Nairobi and then continue with your journey to Masai Mara Game Reserve through the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Keekorok Lodge late afternoon. If time allows, set off for game drives till sunset in search of the Big Five.

Day 5-6: Masai Mara

Spend the whole day in the Masai Mara plains doing game drives and on the look out for herds of wildebeests grazing in the Mara plains. Optional evening visits to Masai cultural village to learn their culture and dances. Each visit cost USD35 per person and you pay this directly.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, depart Mara for Lake Nakuru. Lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge followed by an extensive afternoon game drives in the park. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru – Samburu Game Reserve

After breakfast, depart for Aberdares National Park, with a brief stop at Thomsons Falls. Continue driving northward through Nanyuki town, crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, until you reach Isiolo town and then down into the thorny landscape of Samburu country.

After lunch in your lodge, set off for afternoon game drives in the park. This area boosts of unique northern species of wildlife which are not found in any other part south of equator, here you will find the Grevy zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, the long necked gerenuk, herds of elephants and their predators abound. The life-giving Uaso Nyiro River plays a major role in the ecosystem of this region.

Day 9: Samburu Game Reserve

Before dawn you head out in search of Africa’s wild cats. After the game drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast and some R&R “rest and relaxation”, read a book/novel, sunbathe or perhaps go for a refreshing dip in the uniquely designed swimming pool. After lunch, set off for afternoon game drives till sun set.

Day 10: Samburu – Aberdares

After breakfast, depart for Aberdares National Park. Access to the park by private vehicles is limited to conserve and protect the environment which hosts wildlife such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, bush bucks, giant forest hogs, Sykes monkey, leopard, and bongo. Arrive at the Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch (cost included). A representative of The Ark Lodge will transfer you to their lodge. This tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble the actual Ark, designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole. A ground-level bunker at The Ark provides excellent photographic opportunities, and the Yasabara waterhole is floodlit by night to enable all-night viewing of the game.

Day 11: Aberdares – Nairobi – Depart Home

After breakfast at your lodge, a driver of The Ark Lodge will transfer you back to The Aberdare Country Club where you’ll reconnect with your driver/guide and then depart for Nairobi through Central Kenya. Stop at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi for lunch. Later, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your international flight home.
