SVAU 013: Vintage Rwanda Gorilla Tour
This Rwanda gorilla tour takes you to unique tour destinations in Africa and the home to the endangered mountain gorillas. This Rwanda safari offers you game drives in Akagera National Park and gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park, excellent bird watching, cultural excursions and Nature walks.
Day 1: Kigali
On arrival at Kigali Airport, you’ll be met by our Rwanda representative who will transfer you to your hotel for overnight. Safari briefing and then settle in your lodge for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 2: Kigali – Akagera
The driver/guide will pick you from the hotel after breakfast and embark on a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park near the border with Tanzania. There are beautiful sceneries you shall be exposed to along the way. Arrive at Akagera Game Lodge in time for lunch. Afterwards, set off for game drives in one of Africa’s most wonderful game drives in Akagera National Park.
The park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 different species of birds. Dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River, the most remote source of the Nile, this is archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland. Akagera is, above all, big game country! Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while lucky visitors might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a stray lion.

Day 3: Akagera
You shall have a cup of tea / coffee and proceed for a morning game drive to catch up with early raisers and predators returning to their hideouts. The game drive will reward you with chances to see a variety elephants, buffalos, lions, Maasai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and relax to lunch time. May go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema after lunch. You’ll see hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and a rich bird life of about bird species.

Day 4: Akagera – Kigali – Parc National des Volcans
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali and visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Museum. After lunch in Kigali, drive to the Volcanoes National Park through the beautiful terraced hillsides to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Spend the night at Kinigi Guest House or Virunga Lodge overlooking the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Parc National des Volcans – Kigali
After early breakfast, head for a briefing about Gorilla trekking in Rwanda at the Kinigi Station, then head straight to the slopes of the Forest. Gorilla trekking is no-longer quite strenuous, we send an advance team so you can move direct to the spot where the advance team has located the Gorillas. Maximum permitted time with the Gorillas is 1 hour. After sighting the mountain gorillas, return to the lodge for lunch. Depending on the time, take a short cultural tour to nearby communities. Afterwards, drive back to Kigali for overnight.

Day 6: Kigali City Tour – Depart Home
Breakfast at Lemigo Hotel.
08.00 AM. You will be picked up from the hotel by your driver/guide and begin your Kigali City Tour. The Kigali city tour takes approximately two hours and incorporates a visit to Nyamironko Kigali market, a pottery project, some of best handicraft shops in Kigali and the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre.
1300hrs: Lunch at a hotel in Kigali. In the afternoon, transfer to Kigali Airport to catch your international flight home.
